Russel Dean Richards, 74, of Devlin, Ontario, Canada, died Jan. 19, 2000.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 22 at Victory Baptist Church in Crozier with Pastor Chet Cooper officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, Ontario.
Russel Richards was born Nov. 2, 1925 in Nunda. S. D. to Earl and Emma Richards. He married Joan Clark on March 23, 1946. Russel had lived and farmed in the Peru area from the mid 1950s through the late 70s. He moved to Canada in 1985 and settled in Stratton, Ontario, where he farmed. Following his retirement in 1997, he moved to Devlin. He was an active member of the Victory Baptist Church in Crozier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Russel Richards (wife Carol) of Barwick, Ontario; a daughter, Patricia Ann Snell (husband Marvin) of Knoxville; two brothers, Willis Ray Richards of Knoxville and Dale Leo Richards (wife Juanita) of Albuquerque, N. M.; three brothers-in-law, Douglas Clark, Philip Kennedy and Dennis Kennedy; two sisters-in-law, Judith Cosens and Rebecca Nash; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Victory Baptist Church Building Fund in Crozier.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario.
