OLIVER GRANDFIELD DEATH OCCURRED JAN. 29

Injuries Sustained in Fall Contribute to Death at Age of 78 Years

Oliver A. Grandfield, a life-long resident of Union and Madison counties, died Sunday, Jan. 29 at a nursing home in Lenox. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Grandfield had suffered severe injuries, receiving a fractured leg, arm and shoulder, in a fall on Dec. 8. He was taken to the University hospital in Iowa City, remaining there until a week prior to his death, when he was removed to a nursing home in Lenox.

Mr. Grandfield lived for many years on a farm near Dodge Center in Union county, moving to Creston in 1950. Mrs. Grandfield died about a year ago at Creston.

He is survived by six children, Mrs. Vera Warfel and J. C. and Dale Grandfield, all of Creston, Mrs. Grace Thompson and Mrs. Nina Thompson of Lorimor, and Mrs. Opal Thompson of Greenfield.

Funeral services were held from Jerusalem church near Creston, and burial was made in the cemetery there.
