Page 8, Column 2Velma Hartzog was born December 31, 1906, at Fontanelle, Iowa, and died at Winterset, Iowa, Thursday Feb. 10th, 1916. Age 9 years, 1 month and 17 days.
Velma was a loving and obedient child of a sweet and gentle disposition. When but a few weeks old the father and mother took her to church, and there at the Holy Fount had her baptized a child of God. Then as she became older she attended the Church of Christ; was a member and secretary of her little Sunday School class, and as one was heard to say it was a pleasure and delight to hear her as she recited or read before that class, for it was with such firmness of mind that, young as she was she wished to please her Heavenly Father in all thing that she did. She leaves to mourn her early departure a father and mother, and a sister and brother.
The funeral was a 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. Burton of the Church of Christ, and the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery to await the glad summons of the resurrection morn.
