Mrs. A. O. Hawkins, a native of Madison county, died Sept. 25 at Fremont, Nebr., where he had made her home since 1935. She was 66 years of age.
Mrs. Hawkins was the former Eliza B. McDonald. She was born near Winterset Dec. 19, 1889. She was graduated from Highland Park college in Des Moines, and taught school for five years in Winterset.
She was married in 1916 to Alpha O. Hawkins. For seven years they lived in Winterset and at Earlham, then moved to Arlington, Nebr., where they spent 12 years.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Paul Hawkins; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Friday in Fremont, Nebr., and burial was made in the McDonald cemetery west of Winterset.

1956Mrs. A. O. Hawkins of Fremont, Nebraska died Tuesday afternoon at Dodge County Community hospital.
Eliza R. McDonald was born December 19, 1889 at Winterset. She graduated from Highland Park college in Des Moines and taught school for five years in Winterset.
She was married to Alpha O. Hawkins on April 4, 1916 and spent the first seven years of her married life in Winterset and Earlham, moving to Arlington, Nebraska where they lived for 12 years.
They moved to Fremont, Nebraska in 1935.
Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Presbyterian church and a member of Eastern Star, Arbor Vitae chapter and also Worthy Matron of the Arlington chapter.
Survivors include her husband, a son, Paul and his wife, Jean and two grandchildren, Leah and Mac of Washington, D. C.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Hawkins on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lattin and Dugan Funeral home in Fremont and graveside services and burial at 2:30 p.m. in the McDonald cemetery near Winterset, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Imboden drove to Fremont, Nebraska Wednesday forenoon to be with Mrs. Imboden's brother, Mr. Hawkins, Mrs. Olive Sheldon, sister of Mrs. Hawkins and her daughter, Mrs. Bette Dunn of Alleman, Iowa and Mrs. Gerald Hawkins of Des Moines attended the services at Winterset.
Mrs. Hawkins was a true christian woman. Her life was one of indescribable beauty-filled with good deeds, boundless courage, and sweet smiles. She loved everyone, enjoyed everything good, lived life to the fullest extent, giving and taking all that life offered. She was converted early in life and united with the Methodist church of which she was a life member. Her membership was in the Earlham church at the time of her death.
She was a true and faithful wife. A kind and loving mother, always wanting her children and grandchildren around her. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for her family. She loved her home and enjoyed the beauties of nature and gained much pleasure and satisfaction from her flowers. One of her greatest delights was to share her flowers with others and to place a bouquet on the altar of her church each Sunday through-out the year.
In addition to the eight children and twenty-two grandchildren there are seven brothers and sisters who mourn the loss of this christian woman. William T. of California; Ida E. Bratton of Lawrens (Laurens), Iowa; Fannie A. Bailey of Cleveland, Ohio; May M. Davis, of Oklahoma; James, of Woonsocket, South Dakota; Bertha Eddy, of White Water, Wisconsin; and Ellen Morris of Oklahoma.
Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery by the side of her husband.
