FORMER PERU RESIDENT DIES

John T. Porter, Aged 75 Years Died Recently in Missouri

John T. Porter, formerly of Peru, died recently at Chillicothe, Mo., at the age of 75 years.

Mr. Porter lived at Peru, where he was an employee of the Great Western railroad, until about 4 years ago. He was a native of Keystone, Mo.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion post at Chillicothe. He had worked for the Great Western line for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1947.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Porter; a son, Johnny Porter of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Hogue, who is now living in Turkey, where her husband is stationed; a grandson and step granddaughter; two brothers, Walter and Alfred Porter of Peru; a sister, Mrs. Harry Jones of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at the chapel of the Gordon Home for Funerals in Chillicothe, conducted by the Rev. Carl Bergsten, pastor of the Methodist church there. The body was brought to the Kale Funeral home in Truro, where second services were held, in charge of the Rev. Millard Marshall. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
