Mrs. Phillips Rites at Truro

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 11 from the Kale Funeral Home at Truro for Mrs. Mary Catherine Phillips, a life-long resident of Ohio township.

Mrs. Phillips died May 8 at the Clarke County hospital in Osceola at the age of 81.

A daughter of George and Ann Hamilton Patterson, she was born at Truro on Sept. 4, 1893.

She attended country schools near Truro and on Sept. 6, 1911 was married to Elmer Clay Phillips.

A housewife, Mrs. Phillips was a member of Thursday Girls Club and Oak Run Circle.

She is survived by three sons, Richard, Robert and Marvin Phillips, all of Truro, and a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Amy) Sykes of Hammond, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Amy Denly of Truro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1972, and by a daughter, Cleona and by three brothers, and two sisters.

Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Richard Hempenius. Burial was in the Ebenezer cemetery near Truro.
