Leta Phillips Of Truro Died

Leta E. Phillips, a longtime resident of Truro, died at Des Moines General Hospital last Tuesday, April 16. She was 72 years of age.

Leta Elizabeth Phillips was born at Bloomington, Illinois on July 27, 1901, the daughter of William D. and Florence Kay Calhoun Cooper. She graduated from Truro High School with the class of 1921.

She was married to Carroll Phillips at Truro on February 22, 1923. She and her husband were the parents of four children.

Mrs. Phillips was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the W.S.C.S. and the church guild.

She is survived by her husband, Carroll of Truro; by two sons; Lee Phillips of Mt. Dora, Florida; and Dean Phillips of Des Moines; and by one daughter, Mrs. Norma Creecy of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Worth Gregory of San Bernadino, California; and Mrs. Ed Wolfe of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by one son, Loren; by her parents; and by one sister, Frances Cooper.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19 at the United Methodist Church in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial was made in Ebenezer Cemetery at Truro.
