Sandra Vicki Inez Pettit, 51, of Winterset, died of cancer March 28, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Darrell Sams officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at Clark Cemetery in rural Macksburg.

Sandra Pettit was born April 23, 1952, in Winterset to Wano and Dorothy (Fryer) Welch. On Dec. 6, 1971, she married Lilbert Pettit in Maysville, Mo. Sandra was a lifetime resident of the Winterset area, where she and her husband had farmed. She was a member of New Hope Christian Union Church in rural Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one stepson, Brian Pettit.

She is survived by one son, David Pettit of Winterset; two daughters, Dani Jurgens of Des Moines and Angel Pettit of Winterset; one stepdaughter, Paula Hannon of Winterset; a brother, Bruce Welch of Virginia; four sisters, Rita Moorehead of Red Oak, Dona Russell of Peru, Terri Welch of Des Moines and Walana Welch of Winterset; and one granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be directed to her family.
