January 14, 1953CHARLES PERKINS DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Charles A. Perkins, former Madison county resident, died at his home in Woodland, California, Monday, January 12th, according to a wire, received by his sister, Mrs. Eugene McNamara. Mr. Perkins, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Perkins, was born in Kansas, August 12, 1890, but came here when a small boy with his family, and they lived on the Perkins farm six miles west of Winterset, on what is now highway 92.
He and his father and brothers, left for California, a number of years ago, following the death of the mother and that state has since been him home. He was a Veteran of World War I and had been in poor health, the past two years.
Survivors include his wife, two brothers, John of Corning, Calif; Dewitt Perkins of Pittsville, California, and Mrs. McNamara of Winterset. Mr. Perkins was a member of the Episcopalian church and funeral services are being held in Woodland, and burial is to be in the cemetery in that city.
