Lula Clements, Oregon

Lula P. Clements, 91, Dayton, Ore., died March 7, 2003.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 12, at Mac Funeral Home in McMinnville, Ore.

Lula Clements was born Sept. 10, 1911, to Virgil and Alta Mae (Dupuy) Devilbiss of Dale City. She was raised and schooled in Sanborn, Minn., and Linden. On sept. 14, 1929, she married Oran G. Clements Sr. in Adel. In 1930, they moved to Carr, Colo. In 1936, they moved back to Iowa, where they farmed in the Stuart and Earlham areas.

In 1954, they moved to Dayton, Ore. Lula was a member of the Dayton First Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge (50-years) and Eastern Star Knowles chapter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Oran Clements Jr.; a daughter, Edith Koch; three brothers; two sisters; and four grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Fred Clements and James Clements, both of Dayton, Ore., and Thomas Clements of Palmer, Alaska; eight daughters, Sarah Barber of Newberg, Ore., Nellie Bindle of Winterset, Dorothy Ellis of Rogers, Ark., Mary Golightly of Pierceton, Ind., LaVonne Morgan of Waukee, Ruth Sexton of McMinnville, Ore., Beverlee Towry of Salem, Ore., and Elsie Webster of Albany, Ore.; three sisters, Hazel Barnes of Dexter, Dorothy Lewis of Perry and Helen Evans of Des Moines; 41 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
