MurrayMarvin C. Brown, 88, of Murray died of complications of a stroke Wednesday at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, with burial at Moon Cemetery near Macksburg.
Mr. Brown was born in Madison County and had lived in Murray since 1974. He was a farmer and had worked for Fansteel Wellman Dynamics in Creston before retiring. He was a member of International Molders Union, National Farmers Organization and Murray Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; a son Gerald of Lafayette, Colo.; five daughters, Colleen Antisdel of Creston, Caroletta Humphreys of Des Moines, Carolyn Selsor of Van Wert, Jeanette Sitzman of Corning and Janet Brown of Murray; a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Zella Burgus, both of Murray; 22 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred “Fern” Silverthorn Brown.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Murray First Responders.
