Death of Mrs. A. L. Barnes

Macksburg, Nov. 12. Special – Galletta Herr Barnes died Thursday morning, November 7th, at Kirksville, Missouri, at the age of forty years. Death followed an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Macksburg, conducted by Rev. Eugene Alexander, and burial was in the Moon cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes was born December 25, 1888, and on June 19, 1909, she was united in marriage to A. L. Barnes. To this union there were born three children: Sylvia, Mary Louise and Arthur.

While a small child, her mother passed away and she was cared for by her grandparents, John and Mary Herr, who raised her. The grandparents were pioneers of Madison county. She had in recent years, lived in Kirksville, Missouri, where she united with the Christian church.

She leaves to mourn her loss beside her children and husband, three cousins, Mrs. Wilbur Cason, Mrs. Allen Campbell and Mrs. Oren Knight; two aunts, Mrs. Steve Thomas and Mrs. Hattie Garrison, and an uncle, Ellis Jessup.
