Mrs. Peris A. Smith, a lady of near seventy years of age, a long time resident of St. Charles, died at her home of acute pneumonia on Saturday morning, and was laid in the family plat in St. Charles cemetery on Sunday by the side of her husband, James Smith, who died suddenly of heart failure in the same home almost twelve years ago. Mrs. Smith was an intelligent, active Christian lady; a zealous worker in the M. E. church and W. R. C., of which she was a character (charter?) member and past president. Her sisters of the corps marched in a body to the church and did their utmost to show their love for the worthy dead. The four children were all present during her sickness and at her death and burial. The community mourns.
