Donald Armstrong, 70, of the 2800 block of Raccoon Street died of congestive heart failure Monday at home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Mr. Armstrong had lived in Des Moines all his life. He was a retired contractor and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by a daughter, Sue Kimmel of Peru, Ia.; three sons, James Whitten, Frank Whitten and Steve Armstrong, all of Des Moines; four brothers, Charlie of Kingwood, Texas, Bill of Oshkosh, Wis., Orville of Shreveport, La., and David of Des Moines; a sister, Mary Cornelison of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
