True William Sheldon, 90, of Truro, died of a heart ailment Aug. 21, 1995, at the Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro. Pastor Larry Smith will officiate the services and burial will be at the Hartman Cemetery in Truro. Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Wed. at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with family visitation from 7-8 p.m. Wed. evening.

He was born in Lorimor on Dec. 15, 1904, to Charles Leroy and Josephine (Smith) Sheldon. He married Vera Fullmer on March 17, 1929 in St. Charles. He was a long-time resident of the Truro community. He was a farmer and a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Charles. He was also a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; one brother; and one grandson.

Surviving relatives include his wife; two sons, Merrill Sheldon and wife Evelyn of Damaskas, Ark., and Dale William Sheldon and wife Milly of Crawford, Nebr.; one daughter, Virla Caskey and husband Duane of Redfield; one daughter-in-law, Jean Sheldon of Calif.; one brother, Ernest Sheldon of WinterHaven, Fla.; one sister, Bernice Parker of Winterset Care Center North; two half-brothers, Cliff Branaman of LaPorte City and Clark Branaman of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Coordinator's note: The Iowa State Birth Records show his name to be "Willie Truman". This is the only instance of "Truman" rather than "True" that has been found in any vital record.
