Mrs. Elizabeth Miller Seymour was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 22, 1834. She was left motherless when only a week old. With her father, two sisters, and two brothers she came to Upper Canada in the year 1843 and after a residence of only six months in their new home, she lost her protector and friend, her father. She was married to Mr. M. F. Seymour on December 29, 1855, in the town of Mercer, Pennsylvania. To them were born 11 children, 5 of whom died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour moved from the state of Pennsylvania to Ohio and from there to Madison county, this state in the year 1865. She became a member of the Baptist church in the year 1868. She was left a widow with 6 children in the year 1880. She has been a sufferer for years, but has been able to keep the home and a motherly welcome for the children al these years, till last Wednesday evening the message came that called her up higher. She was little more than 66 years of age.
Six children, 2 daughters and 4 sons, 2 sisters and 1 brother are left to mourn the dear departed one, besides many kind friends and neighbors who will miss her. She was a good woman and a kind mother. She did her work well, and has gone to her rest and reward.
