Alta Sawhill, 93, of Eugene, Ore., died April 15, 1995 of congestive heart failure at her home. Funeral services will be April 22 at 11 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery. visitation will be Friday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born in Madison County on Sept. 25, 1901 to Arthur B. and Sarah C. (Evans) Marston. She married George W. Sawhill on Sept. 22, 1920 in Winterset. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Presbyterian church and was active with the church women.

She was preceded in death by her husband; five sisters; and one grandson.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Martha Everett of Portland, Ore., and Doris Johannessen of Eugene, Ore.; two sons, Lloyd Sawhill of Flint, Mich., and Eugene Sawhill of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
