Irma Rebecca Powell, 84, of Nevada, Iowa, died from complications due to Parkinson's disease Nov. 13, 2000, at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 18, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor David Bovenmyer officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Irma Powell was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Shelby County, Mo., to Forest Adelbert and Roxie Cora (Beach) Dale. A homemaker, she also was retired from the Huxley Cooperative Telephone Company where she was a secretary. Irma had lived in Madison County from 1930 to 1955. She later had resided in Farnhamville, Zearing and Huxley, where whe had lived until entering the nursing home in Nevada in 1996. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
She is survived by her husband of Nevada; five sons, Richard Powell of Monee, Ill., Larry Powell of Stone Mountain, Ga., William Powell of Nevada, Donald Powell of Slater and Theodore Powell of Huxley; four brothers, Donald Dale of Osceola, Robert Dale and Wayne Dale, both of Indianola, and Merton Dale of Cedar Falls; a sister, Phyllis McCulloh of Morrison, Ill.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
