Gerald Dean Myers, Truro

Gerald Dean Myers, son of Leo and May Shutt Myers, was born December 23, 1912 near St. Charles, in Madison county. He died at his home, January 10, 1987 near Truro, at the age of 74 years and 18 days.

He was married to Lillie Goodrich on December 7, 1935. To this union five children were born. Four of whom survive him are: Mrs. Phil (Carol) Clarke of Truro, Janice Hurd of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Willcox of Truro and LeRoy Myers and wife, Dee of Osceola; also 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Evelyn) Fitzgerald of Truro, and Mrs. Ross (Laura) Goodrich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy; and one sister, Isabelle; and one son, Rex Dean; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Gerald spent his years doing custom threshing, wood sawing and hay baling, plus farming. He worked 11 years at Natural Gas Pipeline and operated his own garage and welding shop in Truro for 46 years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 12, 1987 at the Kale Funeral Home, Truro with Rev. Anne Louise Weisenfluh of Truro officiating. Burial was in the Hartman Cemetery.

Gerald Myers Rites Monday

Gerald Dean Myers, 74, of rural Truro, died Saturday, January 10, 1987 at his residence. Services were held Monday, January 12 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Anne Louise Weisenfluh of Truro officiating the 1:30 p.m. rites. Interment was in the Hartman Cemetery, Madison County.

Gerald Dean Myers was born December 23, 1912 in Madison County, Iowa, son of Leo Myers and May Shutt Myers. He attended schools in Truro and St. Charles and married Lillie Goodrich on December 7, 1935 in Bethany, Missouri.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lillie of Truro; daughter Carol Clark and husband, Phil of Truro; daughter, Janice Hurd of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Betty Willcox and husband, Robert of Truro; son; LeRoy Myers and wife, Dee of Osceola; two sisters, Laura Goodrich of Osceola and Evelyn Fitzgerald of Truro; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rex; one sister, Isabelle DeBoer; one brother, Roy and two great grandchildren.
