Jesse L. Sprung, a former Madison county resident, died Dec. 2, 1949, at the home of his son, Capt. E. E. Sprung, U. S. Navy, in Portsmouth, Va. He was 81 years of age.
The body was returned to Madison county for burial. Funeral services were held Dec. 6 from the home of his niece, Mrs. Claude Shearer of Peru. Burial was made beside his wife in the Peru cemetery.
Mr. Sprung was a native of Illinois, where he was born Feb. 17, 1868. He lived in Madison county in early life and was married here to Lydia Emerson of Peru, in 1899. After spending a few years in Nebraska, he moved to Delta, Colo., where he lived many years, and became a prominent citizen as farmer, merchant, and under-sheriff of the county.
Mr. Sprung's wife died in 1945. In addition to the son, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. M. M. Morse of Grand Junction, Colo., and Annetta Sprung of San Francisco.
