Velma Gibbons, (82), died October 14, 1993 at Claude Nursing Home in Claude, Texas. Services were held October 19, 1993 with the Rev. Steve Minkler of the Church of Christ in Murray, officiating. Burial was at the Union Cemetery north of Murray...
Mrs. Gibbons was born April 18, 1911 in Madison County to Arthur and Florence (Kirk) Iiams. She married Walker E. Gibbons on October 17, 1932 in Joplin, Mo.
She resided in Madison county and then Winterset until moving to Texas in 1933 where she and her husband farmed. She was a homemaker and belonged to the First Baptist Church in Kress, Texas.
Surviving relatives include one brother, Dale Iiams of Murray; one son, Melvin Gibbons of Hedley, Texas; five granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
