Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Kivill Hintz Haines, 87, of Stuart died of a heart ailment April 5, 1994 at the Community Care Center, where she was a resident since 1988. The body was cremated and graveside memorial services will be in Springfield, Minn., at a later date.

She was born in Springfield and lived in Des Moines from 1939 until moving to the care center. She was formerly a dietitian at University Hospitals and had been a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Junior League, both in Des Moines.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Elisabeth Morris of Los Angeles, Mary Anderson of Visalia, Calif., and Virginia Snodgrass of Earlham; one brother, Charles Hintz of New Ulm, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the care center.
