JOE STOEFFLER, Columbus, Ohio

Joe Stoeffler, 27, formerly of Winterset, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at his home in Columbus, Ohio.

A visitation will be held from 1–8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Pastor Jim Howland officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund established in Joe’s name.

Joe was born April 15, 1979, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Fred and Susan Kay (Jacobson) Stoeffler.

He was a 1997 graduate of Winterset High School and later attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2002 with a degree in horticulture, with an emphasis in turf management. He lived in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, since 2003 and was employed by Muirfield Village Golf Course in Columbus.

Joe was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University and the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. He was an exceptional athlete. He was involved in football, baseball and golf in high school and continued to be an avid golfer.

He is survived by his parents, Kay and Don Stanley of Winterset and Fred Stoeffler and Linda Vierling, also of Winterset; a sister, Alyssa Tadlock, and husband Brad, of Winterset; a brother, Adam Stoeffler of Ames; his grandfather, Norman “Jake” Jacobson and wife Joanne; a nephew, Garrett; a special friend, Jill Riggs; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; and his dog, Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Art and Marie Stoeffler, and his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Jacobson.
