Mary Martha Lowe

Mary Martha Lowe, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Downard Lowe was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, April 7, 1851, and died at the home of her brother, William Lowe in Truro, Iowa, August 19, 1931, age 80 years, 4 months and 12 days.

When four years of age she came with her parents from their native state to Iowa and located in Madison county, four miles southwest of Truro. Here “Mattie” as she was commonly called, grew to womanhood. She remained at home and cared for her parents until their decease more than fifty years ago. Since that time she made her home with her brother William and family.

During her young womanhood she was converted and united with the Church of God. About sixteen years ago when she became a resident of Truro, she transferred her membership to the Truro M. E. church.

She leaves her only brother William who is the only remaining member of a family of eleven children.
