LEONARD MOORE DIES AT 97 YEARS

One of County's Oldest Residents Died Last Wednesday

Leonard R. Moore, one of Madison county's oldest residents died last Wednesday, Sept 15, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 97 years of age.

Mr. Moore was born in Lincoln township March 19, 1868. He was the youngest of four children born to James and Margaret Moore. His entire life was spent in Iowa, most of it in Madison county, where he had engaged in farming and was employed in road construction and maintenance work over a long period of years.

As a young man he was married to Addie Norris. She preceded him in death in 1944. They had no children, and there are no near surviving relatives.

As a young man he became a member of the Church of Christ, later transferring to the First Methodist church of Winterset.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
