Mrs. George W. Gray
Mrs. George W. Gray died at her home in Madison county, near Winterset, May 13, 1931, age 68 years, 1 month and 28 days.
Prunella Jane Lewis was the daughter of William and Emil J. Lewis. She was left an orphan at the early age of less than three months, her father died in the Civil War. She was cared for and raised by her stepfather, the late A. J. Gray, and her mother. She loved her stepfather as her own and often said he was as dear to her as any father could be. She lived and helped to care for her half-brothers and sisters who loved her dearly. She attended school at Scranton, Ia. She was happy in her church and the Ladies Aid to which she belonged. She will be missed, where she has labored and lived in all true womanliness, an inspiration, strength and blessing to those whose lives were touched by hers.
December 12th, 1887 she was united in marriage to George W. Gray. One son, Elmer, was born to this union.
She was buried in the Dillavou cemetery, by her husband, who preceded her in death 15 years ago. There is left to mourn her passing her son, Elmer who has always lived with her, her daughter in-law, Bessie, three grandsons, Norva, Harry and George. Two sisters and four brothers, also survived her. Two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral was from the Friends Church.
