DR. PAMMEL IS DEAD

Nation-wide Authority in Botany and Conservation Dies, Returning from Calif.

Dr. L. H. Pammel, professor ementus of the department of botany at Iowa State college, died Monday at Ogden, Utah, while returning from California. Dr. and Mrs. Pammel had spent the winter with their daughter in California and he was stricken and died while on board the passenger train at Ogden.

Dr. Pammel was nationally known for his work in botanical research. He was first chairman of the Iowa State Board of Conservation and untiring worker for the development of Iowa’s system of parks.

The Backbone State Park near Winterset was named after Dr. Pammel when the park was dedicated last year.
