CLYDE DUFF, 92, Died Saturday

Clyde Duff of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison County, died Saturday, November 11, 1972, at Madison Manor after a brief illness. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Duff was born in Madison Township January 8, 1880 and spent his active life in that community. He was a son of William T. and Emiline Milligan Duff. He graduated from Earlham High Schol and attended Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines.

He was married to Cass Oldham, whose death occurred May 31, 1935.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Worthington Methodist Church.

Surviving are the son, Phil Duff of DeSoto; two grandchildren, Richard Duff of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Jack Baur of Des Moines; and four great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Josephine McKee, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Worthington Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Ward Young. Burial was made in the Worthington Cemetery.

Clyde Duff, age 92, of Earlham, Iowa, son of William T. and Emeline Duff, pioneers of Madison County, was born on January 8, 1880, on the homestead, southeast of Earlham. He passed away November 11, 1972.

His wife, Cora, and only sister, Josephine McKee, preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son, Phillip and his wife, Bernice; two grandchildren, Richard of Denver, Colorado, and Judy Baur of Des Moines; and four great grandchildren.

Clyde’s business was farming, and he was active in civic and neighborhood activities. He was a life long member of the Worthington United Methodist Church and the Earlham Masonic Lodge.

Services were held at the Worthington United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 13. Rev. Ward Young officiated. Mrs. Vernon White provided organ music. Casket bearers were Howard Gowin, Joe Fleming, Earl Schalkle, L. O. Patten, John Oldham and George Reinert. Interment was in the Worthington cemetery.
