Well-Known Winterset Woman Was Life-Time Resident Of Community
Mrs. Fred F. Mardis of Winterset, a well-known resident of this community during all her long life, died Thursday, Jan. 20, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 89 years of age.
Mrs. Mardis was a member of a pioneer family Madison county family. She was the former Jessie M. Snyder, daughter of Samuel and Judy Blair Snyder and was born her Feb. 14, 1876.
She was married to Fred F. Mardis April 14, 1897. They spent their married life in Winterset. His death occurred many years ago.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin Kirscher and Mrs. George Nichols, both of Winterset; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
