Well-Known Farmer Most Of Life In Macksburg Community
Lorenzo C. McKee, who spent most of his long life as a well known farmer in the Macksburg community, died Saturday Aug. 5, at at Winterset nursing home. He was 91 years of age.
Mr. McKee was born in Madison county Feb. 12, 1876, a son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Bateman McKee. His active life was spent farming near Macksburg.
He was married there Feb. 21, 1891, to Cynthia Wright, who preceded him in death.
Mr. McKee was a member of the Assembly of God church.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Reva Austin of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Ethelda Parks of Flagstaff, Ariz., Gerald McKee of Macksburg, Mrs. Hattie Henry of Tempe, Ariz., and Orlie McKee of Gilroy, Calif. He also leaves 30 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; 30 great great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Julia Miller of near Winterset; and a brother Roy McKee of Clyde Park, Mont.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Paul McKee in 1964 and by three infant children.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Hugh Cerutti of Afton and the Rev. George Edgerly of Gray, Ia. Burial was to be made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
