Marion McDonald, Osceola

Marion William McDonald, 89, died Aug. 28, 2005, at the Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osceola with the Rev. J. R. Wheeler officiating. Open visitation will be held today (Wednesday Aug. 31) at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Marion McDonald was born July 10, 1916, in Madison County to Malcom Earl and Mary (Cooter) McDonald. He received his education in the Madison County rural schools, later attending Winterset High School. On Jan. 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Alice Mae Comp in Madison County. Three children blessed this union. Following the death of Alice in 1973, he later married Erma Glee (Thurman) Morris. Marion spent his lifetime farming in Madison and Warren counties prior to his retirement and relocation to Osceola over 20 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice and a brother, Kenneth McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, Erma of Osceola; two sons, Richard McDonald and Robert McDonald, both of Winterset; one daughter, Judith Ann Dryer of Winterset; two stepsons, Kenneth Morris of Commerce City, Colo., and Larry Morris of Northglenn, Colo.; a brother, Raymond McDonald of Winterset; two sisters, Phyllis Thomas and Ann Raftis, both of Des Moines; and seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
