Margaret McCarthy, Winterset

Margaret S. McCarthy, 84, of Winterset died of complications from pneumonia March 23, 2004 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

No services or visitation will be held.

Margaret McCarthy was born Feb. 23, 1920 in Stafford County, Kan., to Andrew Otis and Alice Shilt. She married Michael Ora McCarthy Sr. on Feb. 23, 1935 in Kansas. Margaret, a homemaker, had grown up in Kansas and also resided in Arkansas, Missouri and Florida before moving to Madison County in 1942. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and had worked at the Multi-Purpose Center and Madison County Meal Site.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Bessie Irene Clark.

She is survived by tow sons, Michael McCarthy of Creston and James McCarthy of Orlando, Fla., one daughter, Ann Morehouse of Winterset; and seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to her family in care of Ann Morehouse, 1706 W. Summit, Lot 29, Winterset.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
