LAST RITES HELD FOR C. W. MCBRIDE

Funeral services for Charles W. McBride, a long-time resident of Madison county, were held last Friday afternoon, June 20, from the First United Methodist church in Winterset.

Mr. McBride died June 18 at Madison Manor nursing home. He was 81 years of age.

A son of Benjamin Franklin and Julia Ann Bowlsdy McBride, he was born in Madison county on Dec. 8, 1887. He attended the Earlham Academy and Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines.

Mr. McBride farmed for a number of years in the Worthington neighborhood northwest of Winterset. He joined the Worthington Methodist church early in life and transferred his membership in 1949 to the Methodist church in Winterset.

He was married to Ida Maude Clements on Dec. 24, 1913. She preceded him in death.

On Oct. 12, 1943, he was married to Lillian Hann, who survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Opal Abrahams of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Pauline Haynes of Okemos, Michigan, Mrs. Maxine Miller of Towson, Maryland, Mrs. Ruth Ocain of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Mrs. Berta Darlington of Des Moines; also two step-children, Dr. Paul Hann of Des Moines and Mrs. Moody Greenfield of Winterset; one sister, Mrs. A. P. (Elsie) Keast of Des Moines, two brothers, Isaac of Phoenix, Arizona and Jesse of Winterset; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister and two grandchildren.

Officiating at the funeral services last Friday was the Rev. Everett K. Burham. Burial was in Worthington cemetery.
