Buena Vista, daughter of John and Elizabeth Klingman, was born on December 22, 1850, in Cambridge, Ohio. In 1867, she with her parents and other five children moved in a covered wagon to Madison Co.

On October 6, 1870 she was united in marriage to John B. Oldham, whose parents had settled in the same locality. To this union five children were born, Elmer, the oldest, dying at the age of three years. Those surviving are Bertha Henkle, Leslie A., Cora Duff and Josephine Stanley, all of Earlham. The remaining sisters and brother are; Mrs. Laura Harper, of Kansas City, Mrs. M. F. Shepherd, of Anoka, Minn., Mrs. Jessie King, Mrs. Will McDonald and Mr. Frank Klingman, of Winterset. There are also eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She for many years was a member of the Worthington M. E. Church, but on moving to Winterset transferred her membership to that place. She was a true follower of the Master and her daily life was that of an earnest Christian mother.

After a patient illness of five months’ duration, she quietly went to sleep on the morning of November 7 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 15 days. Services were held at two o’clock last Tuesday afternoon at Worthington, by Rev. Arthur P. Keast, of Winterset, assisted by Rev. Weed, after which the remains were laid away in Worthington Cemetery.
