Berneice Louk, Winterset

Berneice Mease Louk, 81, of Winterset died of a lung ailment Jan. 14, 2004, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Dr. John Shaull and Pastor Mike Carlson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Berneice Louk was Jan. 30, 1922 to Neil Eugene and Ina Lucille (Pearson) Kelley of Altoona. She was a 1939 graduate of Winterset High School. She also attended Simpson College for two years. In June of 1941, she married Grover Willard Mease in Winterset. Willard preceded her in death. She later married Keith Louk in May of 1984 in Jefferson. Berneice lived in various locations before making Madison County her home in 1952. A homemaker, she was a member of the Winterset Bowling League and Lakeview Country Club. She was a past member of Eastern Star and Colonial Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and a sister, Alice Rees.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Louk of Perry; a son, Jim Mease of Winterset; two daughters, Judy Trask and Jane Reed, both of Winterset; a stepson, Dean Louk of Ft. Dodge; a stepdaughter, Nancy McClintick of Perry; a brother, Eugene Kelley of Carthage, Mo.; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison Square Activity Fund.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
