FUNERAL AT NEWTON FOR ARTHUR LORTON

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Johnson Murdoch Funeral home at Newton for Arthur L. Lorton, 58, Newton tailor, who died Tuesday in Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines of complications following a stroke suffered several weeks ago.

The Lorton family lived in Winterset about 10 years. He first served as a tailor in the Chas. Rowe Clothing Store and later owned a cleaning establishment here before he moved to Newton.

A Newton resident about 15 years, he also had lived in Ottumwa. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Royal Moss, Oskaloosa; three sons, James, Des Moines, Jack, in California and Arthur Jr. in Texas, eight granddaughters and a brother and sister.
