Carl Evans Lorimor, Cedar Rapids

Services for Carl Evans Lorimor, 65, long-time Earlham resident, who died Oct. 17 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, were held Thursday, Oct. 20 at the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham with the Rev. Gladys Priest officiating. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

Born Jan. 28, 1918 at Bartlett, Iowa, he was the son of Carl and Ruby Lorimor.

On Jan. 1, 1940, he married Maxine Jones. He farmed in the Earlham community from 1938 to 1967 and during this time he joined the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham, serving as trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the school board.

In 1967, Mr. Lorimor moved to the Amanas and worked in the woolen mill.

Surviving are his daughter, Karen Ann Patek, Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by a son, his parents and a brother.

Carl Evans Lorimor was the fourth child of Carl and Ruby Lorimor, born January 28, 1918 at Bartlett, Iowa. He passed away at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa October 17, 1983 of cancer. He was baptized February 15, 1931 in the Bartlett Christian Church.

January 1, 1940 Evans married Maxine Jones and to this union were born one daughter, Karen Ann and one son, Dennis Evans.

Evans farmed in the Earlham community from 1938-1967. During this time he joined the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham serving as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the school board. In 1967 Evans moved to the Amanas and worked in the woolen mill until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis, his parents and one brother. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Ann Patek of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his granddaughters, Melissa and Andrea Patek, two sisters and three brothers.

Services were conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, Earlham, Iowa on October 20, 1983 with the Reverend Gladys Priest officiating. Music was provided by Peg Lorimor, organist. Pallbearers were William C. Price, Earl Anker, George Radakovich, Gale Marston, Phillip Duff, Robert Bobst. Interment was at Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
