ONA LONNECKER OF WINTERSET DIES

Services Held Wednesday for Long-Time Resident of Community

Mrs. Charles Lonnecker of Winterset, a well-known resident of this community for most of her life, died Sunday, Aug. 15, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 79 years of age.

Mrs. Lonnecker was the former Ona Florence Aikin, daughter of Lewis and Lena Blum Aikin. She was born in this county July 27, 1886. She was married to Charles Lonnecker at Winterset on March 12, 1907 and their married life was spent in this community.

She was a 50-year member of the Pythian Sisters; and was affiliated with the Methodist church.

Mrs. Lonnecker is survived by her husband; two sons, Glen A. Lonnecker of San Diego, Calif., and Leon Lonnecker of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Cooley of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vern Ritter of Winterset and Mrs. Opal Burger and Mrs. Fay Burger of Van Meter; and two brothers, Gilbert Aikin of Van Meter and Emory Aikin of Estes Park, Colo.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
