David K. Lawless, Des Moines

Services for David K. Lawless, 46, a former Macksburg resident who died Sept. 6 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, were held Thursday, Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Michael Metz of Orient, officiating. Burial was at the Moon Cemetery.

He was born in Macksburg on July 2, 1937, the son of Leonard Seymour and Hazel Fern Pinckney Lawless. He attended the Macksburg schools, graduating in 1956. He also attended Creston Junior College. Mr. Lawless was a member of the Baptist church in Macksburg and served four years in the U. S. Navy, then four years in the Air Force. The last 13 years he lived in Des Moines. His father, also a Navy veteran, preceded him in death in 1952.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cox; brothers, John and his wife, Shirley of Albany, Ga., and Donald and his wife, Janice of Washington, Iowa; and a sister and her husband, Linda and Andrew Murman of Palmer.
