ROXIE TURNQUIST Dies At 82 Years

Mrs. Roxie A. Turnquist of Winterset died Saturday, April 20, 1963, at a Des Moines nursing home where she had been a patient since September, 1961. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Turnquist had been a resident of Winterset for 36 years. She was a native of Marion county, where she was born Oct. 18, 1880. She was the former Roxie Ann Shawhan, daughter of Isom and Mary Gildow Shawhan.

She was married in Marion county on Oct. 17, 1900, to William Turnquist. He preceded her in death in 1941.

She was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset, and was affiliated with the Eastern Star and Women's Christian Temperance union.

She is survived by three sons, Leland, Paul and William Turnquist, all of Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Mrs. Oleta Allen of Winterset, Mrs. Ireta Lee of Pomona, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Swarzman of Des Moines, and Mrs. Mildred Rasmussen of Buena Park, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Robert Owens. Burial was made in the Bondurant cemetery.
