JAMES EGY PIONEER RESIDENT SUCCUMBS

James Egy, former Madison county resident, died last week in Cherokee, at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Ted Andrews, with whom he had made his home for several years. Mr. Egy was 93 years of age, and his funeral services were held at the Bootheby funeral home in Cherokee Saturday afternoon, and burial was made in that town.

Mr. Egy, a son of David and Martha Egy, was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, on March 26, 1851. The family came to Madison county in 1854, settling on government land in Lincoln township. Later Mr. Egy purchased a farm in Lincoln township where he resided until he retired and moved to Winterset.

Mr. Egy had been twice married, his first wife being Miss Emily Wellman, and his second wife, a Mrs. Neal. Both of these have preceded him in death.

He had been in Cherokee with Mrs. Andrews, who was the former Neva Brock of Winterset. Charles Spurgin, another former Winterset resident, served as a pallbearer at his funeral.
