FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR CHARLES KIMMEL, 70

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 21 from the Collins funeral home in Winterset for Charles Kimmel, a long time resident of this community.

Mr. Kimmel died Aug. 17 at a local nursing home. He was 70 years of age.

The son of George and Sarah DeBock Kimmel, he was born May 21, 1892 at Cordova, Ia., in Marion county.

He engaged in farming and for a number of years was an employee of the former McNay Implement firm here. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion and Christian church.

On March 31, 1947, he was married to Gladys Pearson at Troy, Kan.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Ralph Kimmel of Osceola, one brother, Marion Kimmel of Osceola; a half-brother, John Kimmel of Des Moines; two half-sisters, Mrs. Clarence Green of Weldon and Mrs. Charles McVey of Des Moines; and one granddaughter.

Officiating at the funeral Tuesday afternoon was the Rev. Robert A. Owens, pastor of the First Christian church in Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military graveside services, conducted by Green Rogers Post 184 of the American Legion.
