Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday at Caldwell-Brien Funeral Home for Alice Kiernan, 84, Des Moines, who died Monday, Aug. 26 at the Bishop Drum Care Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement near Cumming. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

A native of Berwick, Mrs. Kiernan lived on the farm south of Booneville during most of her married life. She was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines and University of Iowa. She taught in Minnesota and Iowa high schools until her marriage to John Kiernan.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Fr. Jim Kiernan of Council Bluffs; Jack of Denver; Tom of Des Moines; Gary of Booneville; a daughter, Mary Beth Shambaugh of Des Moines; and 12 grandchildren.
