Mr. Baker was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born near Peru on Jan. 25, 1867, the son of Daniel and Fannie Baker. He was reared in the Peru community.
He was married Dec. 24, 1903, to Jessie Niblo. They lived on what is known as the Baker farm until 1911, when they moved into Winterset, living here until they purchased their farm home five miles south of Winterset. On this farm they lived until the death of Mrs. Baker in 1938.
A year later Mr. Baker retired and moved to Winterset, where he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Maude Black until his death occurred.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Walter Samp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
