Mrs. Caroline McGlothlen, a pioneer resident of Madison county, died last Saturday at her home in Winterset. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. McGlothlen was a native of Canada, where she was born in the province of Ontario on Sept. 20, 1862. She was the former Caroline Kirkland, daughter of Andrew and Nancy Anne Kirkland.
When she was 3 years old she came with her parents to Madison county. They lived in Winterset for a while.
On June 30, 1880, she was married to Albert McGlothlen. They spent most of their married life farming in Grant (Grand) River township, but in 1921, because of failing health, they moved into Winterset. Her husband died in 1921.
