Gladys Marie Kammin, Boone

Gladys Marie Kammin, 86, of Boone, Iowa, died of heart failure, Monday, March 2, 1998 at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Schroeder Funeral Home in Boone, with the family receiving friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone from 8:30 a.m. to the 10 a.m. service. The Rev. Lindsay Walkins will officiate. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Gladys Kammin was born April 9, 1911, in Audubon County to Frank B. and Leota Eve (Reynolds) Duff. She attended school in Winterset. In the 1920s she worked as a nurse's aide at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset and did housekeeping for some families. In the early 1930s, she moved to Boone where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone. Gladys married Christian Fred Kammin on Feb. 12, 1937 in Grant City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, one son and four sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Holder (wife Janell) of Fresno, Calif., and Kenneth Kammin (wife Maureen) of Carroll, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Janella Kammin of Boone; one daughter, Jane McGriff (husband Tom) of Boone; three sisters, Eula Shearer of Des Moines and Carrie harrell and Lora Hermon both of Winterset; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone.
