Services for Bessie B. Johnson, 89, Winterset, who died Feb. 6 at the Care Center South where she resided were held at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Madison County Feb. 15, 1895, she was the daughter of Walter and Anna Read Bowlsby. A resident of the county most of her life, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Columbian Club, WCTU and the Madison County Farm Bureau.
On Aug. 15, 1917, she was married to Byron Johnson at Winterset.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Harold of Ankeny and Herbert of Ft. Dodge; a daughter, Berdena Jones of Earlham; a sister, Edith Fay of Victor; 10 grandchilden and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
