DELBERT THOMASSON, Newton

Delbert Thomasson, 92, of Newton, died March 19, 1994 at the Heritage Manor in Newton. Funeral services were March 22, 1994 at the United Methodist Church in Monroe with the Rev. Karen Merrill officiating. Burial was at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

He was born in Jasper County on Nov. 16, 1901 to John and Jeannette (Wilson) Thomasson. He married Wilma Shannon on March 17, 1934 in the Monroe Methodist Church. He was an employee of the Maytag Company in Newton and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of the UAW and was active in the senior citizens bowling group.

He was preceded in death by eight brother; three sisters; and one grandchild.

Surviving relatives include his wife; two daughters, Shirley Farver and husband Jack of Winterset, and Sue Antle and husband Delwin of Newton; and one son, Lynn Thomasson and wife Kathie of Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
