Charles M. Thomas, 84, of Cedar Falls died from complications of a stroke Aug. 30, 2000, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Charles Thomas was born Nov. 25, 1915, to Orin and Adelaine (Porter) Thomas of Macksburg. A graduate of Macksburg High School, Charles was a retired foreman for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He had lived in Cedar Falls for the past three years, having previously resided in Des Moines. He was a member of the Southgate Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and the Fort Des Moines United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gertrude (Binns) Thomas.
He is survived by a son, Dean Thomas (wife Jean) of West Union; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
