George Gideon, a resident of Winterset for the past several years, died at his home here last Thursday following a heart attack. His death occurred on his fiftieth birthday.

Mr. Gideon was born in Muscatine county on June 22, 1894, the son of Isaiah and Dora Crow Gideon. He was a veteran of the first World war, having served in France with the 168th Infantry regiment of the Rainbow division. He was married May 25, 1929, to Ruby Reed, who survives him.

He followed the trade of carpenter in Winterset.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Barbara; his mother, living at Perry; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Vodnick and Mrs. Alice Vodnick of Perry, Mrs. Hazel Hein of Florida, and Mrs. Kyle Bennett of Winterset; and two brothers, Ivan Gideon of Ogden, and Alfred Gideon of Washington state.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Anderson Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
